The National Construction Code (NCC) requires openings in buildings less than 3 meters from a property boundary or within 6 meters of another building in the same allotment must be protected from fire.
Fire attenuation screens are designed to resist radiant heat to minimise the risk of fire spreading between buildings. When fitted to openings in buildings, attenuation screens increase the chance of people safely leaving a building under threat of fire and reduce the intensity of the fire impact while the fire is brought under control.
Amplimesh® Fire Attenuation screens have been subjected to two hours of rigorous testing by the CSIRO in accordance with relevant Australian Standards (AS1530.4 – 2014, Appendix B7). During testing, Amplimesh® SupaScreen® was subjected to an irradiance heat of 40kW/m2 for two hours and demonstrated a reduction of radiant heat by up to 59%, significantly lowering the threat of fire.
