Frequently Asked Questions
What should I look for when buying a security screen?
Make sure the product meets the Australian Standards
- Too often we see people trying to save money and they end up purchasing a substandard product that does not meet the Australian standards and which does not provide them the security they had intended.
Check the warranty period and who warrants the product
- The warranty of our Amplimesh® security screens (SupaScreen® at 16 years, IntrudaGuard® at 10 years and PrivacyGuard® at 7 years) is covered by Capral Aluminium, Australia’s largest Aluminium extruder who is listed on the Australian stock exchange. Amplimesh® has protected 2.1 million Australian families for over 55 years.
Understand where the woven stainless-steel mesh comes from
- Amplimesh® only used Meshtec mesh, the world leading supplier of woven security screen mesh. The mesh is woven from high-quality stainless-steel wire from Japan.
Pay for what you need. Do not get caught in the ‘hype’ trap, screw fixings, adhesives or celebrity endorsements: just purchase smart designed products that are built to last
- Typically, over-hyped and over-priced security screens promising the world in performance rarely stack up when it comes to basic design principles for the product being an effective barrier in place between you and a potential intruder. SupaScreen® is retained in a heavy-duty security door frame without fixings using a patented pressure process which locks the high tensile mesh securely in place then insulates and isolates both metals from coming into contact with each other, preventing galvanic corrosion occurring which could be a potential cause of product failure.
Select a reputable fabricator/installer who has been in business for some time

Amplimesh® from Capral Aluminium, Australia’s largest extruder and distributor of aluminium products, has been protected over 2.1 million families for over 55 years.
Is 316 grade stainless steel mesh stronger than 304?
With our SupaScreen®, we exclusively use a fine 0.80mm 316 marine grade stainless steel wire which is of the highest quality and consistency. Compared to a 0.9mm 304 mesh, SupaScreen® is higher in tensile strength at both the commencement and completion of the weaving process. SupaScreen® is tested in Australia’s harshest climates. Whether you want a super strong security screen in the bush or a security screen capable of handling the harsh high salinity environments from directly facing the beach, Amplimesh® security screens will perform exceptionally well and come tested ready to do the job.
How thick is SupaScreen® stainless steel mesh?
SupaScreen® uses a 0.80mm high tensile wire, which allows greater visibility and air flow through the product while exceeding AS5039-2008 & AS5041-2003 as a result of the high-tensile stainless steel.
What is a triple lock?
A triple lock is your security door lock which locks your door in 3 points with a one flick operation. It provides additional support for potential break ins or home invasions and is one of the key components of having a Security Door. Your triple lock comes standard when you purchase one of Goldco’s Security Doors (SupaScreen®, IntrudaGuard® & PrivacyGuard®). Without a triple lock, it is not a security door.
What grade of stainless steel is used in Supascreen®?
Amplimesh® SupaScreen® uses high-tensile 316 marine-grade stainless steel exclusively from Meshtec the world’s leading weaver of Security screen mesh. Our stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and being ‘marine grade’, it will ensure the product looks pristine for many years to come with a minimal level of maintenance required.
Does SupaScreen® screens block light when fitted to my window?
All types of screens will block some light regardless of their type or brand. The amount of light blocked depends on the type of infill used, i.e. woven mesh versus perforated mesh. With woven mesh, it also depends on the wire diameter used. Thicker wires block more light. SupaScreen®, with its fine 0.8mm high tensile 316 marine grade stainless steel with a screen aperture of 1.55mm, provides an elegant translucent view and blocks minimum light from entering your room. If you require privacy and some light to be blocked, then consider our PrivacyGuard® screens.
Will I be able to retain my view with SupaScreen®?
Yes, SupaScreen®, with its fine 0.8mm high tensile 316 marine grade stainless steel with a screen aperture of 1.55mm, provides an elegant translucent view which allows you retain your views without feeling like you are caged in.
Does SupaScreen® rust?
Like all stainless-steel products, if you maintain your screens in accordance with our care and maintenance guidelines, your SupaScreen® screens will maintain a rust-free appearance. If your screens are not maintained as per our care and maintenance guidelines, you run the risk of corrosion occurring.
How much are security screens?
The price of a security screen depends on the size, the type of screen you would like to be fitted, and the readiness of the opening to take a screen.
